8 hours (minimum 7 hours of teaching time)

- Spinal management
- Airway emergencies, breathing emergencies, circulations emergencies, sudden medical emergencies, AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
- Written knowledge evaluation.
Students must be at least 16 years of age and be able to understand and perform the first aid skills required at this level.
Standards for Successful Completion
Students must successfully recognize and respond to the emergencies as identified in the course content as evaluated by the instructor and correctly answer 70% of the questions in the knowledge evaluation. This formative written examination is a requirement of WorkSafeBC.
Certification is valid for three years from the date of successful completion of this course
Instructor to Student Ratio:
1 to 18 maximum
There is no re-certification process; students are requires to retake the 8-hour program every three years.
